The override clause means that if the Supreme Court decides to deem a legislation as unconstitutional, the parliament has the right to override that decision, and say that eventhough the court decided it was against the constitution, it would still be valid

The override clause exists in other democratic countries, as part of the balance of authorities, and thus it limits the independence of the court as soon as it crosses certain lines

In Israel we have a problematic history of the court overrides legislation in general and so in fact it ties the hands of the legislators elected by the majority of the public
