ברדה טוען כי הרעש התקשורתי שנוצר בעקבות תגובותיו של טראמפ שירת בעיקר את אויבי ישראל, שכן הוא פגע בלגיטימציה של המבצע בעיני גורמים בינלאומיים וגרם לטשטוש בין אינטרסים אזוריים לבין מאבק פוליטי פנימי בארה”ב. הוא מדגיש שתגובה כזו מצד טראמפ היא לא רק ביטוי לפגיעה באגו אלא מהווה גם איום ממשי על התמיכה האסטרטגית של ארה”ב בישראל בטווח הארוך.
באופן כללי, ברדה מציג תמונה של ממשל אמריקאי שמתערב בזירה הישראלית לאו דווקא מתוך ראייה אסטרטגית כוללת, אלא מתוך שיקולים פרסונליים ואינטרסים פוליטיים צרים.
